Carriage house door questions
Do carriage garage doors swing open?
Most don't. A carriage house door lifts on tracks like any sectional door, so it works with an opener. True swing-out doors are available on request. They open by hand and need clear space in front of the garage.
Are carriage doors more expensive?
Somewhat. The board pattern and the hardware make most of the difference, and windows and insulation add more.
Will the hardware rust near the bay?
Near the bay or the ocean, salt air is harder on steel and hardware. Ask for coated or stainless hardware, rinse the door now and then, and touch up scratches.
Which carriage door suits a Craftsman home?
Square windows across the top, simple vertical boards and dark handles suit most Craftsman and cottage homes. Arched windows lean Mediterranean. We bring samples to the quote visit so you can see them against your house.
